Did you know that the month of September is an excellent month for salmon - the nights being cooler, the water gets cold and the salmon become more active.

At dusk, a white dry fly is very efficient.

When you are going up-river in canoe, the weight must be towards the back and when you are going down-river, the weight must be towards the front.

Keep an eye on your leader regularly to make sure there are not knots.

An occasional upkeeping to clean your flies with a soft soap, rince and dry with a dryer; the flies can be pinned in a polystyrene.

A straw or ball-point pen cartridge of about 2 inches long will help you make the nailknot that joins the line to the leader.

At the end of the season, the best way to put away your line is to roll it around a big enough piece of cardboard or and old bicycle wheel without too much pressure.

In order to clean your fishing rod's cork handle, use a rag with javel water and you've turned the trick.

In cold and rainy weather, wear your camera inside your jacket; this will give better output.

And old ski pole will help you cross a river's current more safely; however it is preferable to remove the bottom basket and maybe shorten the pole it's self.

If you have difficulty threading your flies, a seamstress' threader may greatly help you.

A paper bag filled with moss and pieces of dry wood will guarantee success in lighting a campire.

Tinted lenses or protectors are essential to protect you from the sun or casting.

Your monofilament is entangled, use a small hook # 4 or # 5, it saves time.

By sprinkling the interior of your boots or waders with corn, they will be easier to put on.

Boots and waders should not be hung to be put away; they should be rolled for the off-season.

Before tightening your knots definitely, dampen the specific area with saliva to ensure better resistance.

To make undulations in your leader disappear, use of a shammy will straighten it out.

A little bag of silica will help counter humidity in your tackle or fly box.

You have difficulty disconnecting your rod; place your rod behind your knees with both hands on either side and apply equal pressure towards the outside. It's the most secure way.
